Getting a draft from vent in wall but apparently not allowed to block it off?

You need to have sufficient ventilation for the gas fire so that you don't get carbon monoxide poisoning but there shouldn't be a draft from the vent. If there is a draft from the vent this suggests it is in the wrong place.
