Growing pains or trouble with heart?

Ok first off, I'm a 14 year boy, and I've having a strange throbbing pain in my around my heart. I asked to see a doctor, but my mom told me that my older sister has had these pains as well, and they were just growing pains, but earlier today while I was practicing my music (I'm a marching percussionist), I experienced an extremely painful feeling that started from my heart, and rippled around that side of my chest... I'm just curious if you all think I really these are just growing pains or if I really should go see a doctor about this. P.S. - Sorry for any grammatical errors.
